Yes, our headsets are full stereo. Try them on your portable or panel mounted stereo system. They sound is great. They use the same hearing aid-style speakers that professional stage musicians use for personal monitors. Those monitors cost hundreds of dollars alone. We give you this quality in addition to a flight-saavy amplifier and microphone system.
No, and they do not need to be either! Earplugs are as quiet as most ANR systems without the costly electronics or batteries.
Earplugs are more effective than earcups at blocking low and mid frequency noise. The earplug has less mass and surface area upon which noise can interact. Therefore, nothing has to be done with noise if it doesn't enter the earcanal in the first place!
Nothing. It is the "occlusion effect" and is the same phenomenon that occurs when you close your ear canals tightly with your fingers and talk aloud. Some of that sound energy produced by bone vibration within ithe skull is "trapped" in the ear canal and reflected back to your ear drum where it is heard as a loud, muffled sound. You will get used to it, and it probably won't be noticed in flight.
Not necesarily. The primary noise in aircraft is dominated by low frequencies (low pitch sounds). The earmold is relatively solid as compared to the dynamic motion of the ear canal and thus leaks are often noticed. If there is one very small, razor-like imperfection or opening in the seal between the earmold and the ear canal, almost ALL low frequencies will enter the ear canal and will sound as loud as wearing no earplugs. Foam on the other hand continually accomodates the ear canal shape and therefore blocks sound from entering the canal. The user of earmolds may improve the seal of the earmold by using earmold lubes available from their local audiologst, or they may choose to use a fine bead of "flowable windshield silicone" around the canal portion of the earmold. Windshield silicone is avvailable from auto parts stores. Call for free consultation on how to do this by yourself.
Audiologists and hearing aid dispensers have used these foam tips for more than 30 years for testing hearing. Not all audiologists use them, but all know where to get them for you. Check your Yellow Pages, or order extras from Quiet Technologies for $0.75 each tip (each ear).
